ABOUT YOUR PORTRAIT

Every portrait begins with your photograph. I prepare the image first, correcting the angle, clearing small distractions and making sure the home is shown at its best. The artwork is then developed through several rounds of rendering and refinement. I correct the architectural details by hand, soften anything that reads as too digital, and finish the piece with a painted border and your inscription.

You approve a proof before anything is printed. That's included in the price, not an add-on.

What's included

  • A custom watercolour portrait created from your own photograph

  • Full photo preparation: composition, lighting and colour correction

  • Removal of small distractions such as bins, hoses, cables or garden clutter

  • Improving the garden - add flowers, leaves on trees - if needed

  • Hand correction of architectural details post-rendering

  • A soft, painted-edge border

  • Your choice of inscription

CHOOSING YOUR PHOTO

For the best result, choose a photograph that is:

  • Clear, sharp and taken in good light

  • Large enough to show the important architectural details

  • Taken reasonably straight-on rather than at an extreme angle

  • Free from heavy shadows across the building

  • Not obscured by large trees, vehicles or other objects

A phone photograph is usually perfectly suitable if it's clear and well lit. Your image doesn't need to be professionally taken. I'll improve the presentation where possible before creating the portrait.

INSCRIPTION IDEAS

Most customers choose a family name, address, property name, meaningful date or short phrase. Brief inscriptions work best and keep the finished portrait elegant.

  • The family name

  • The property name

  • A street address

  • "Our First Home"

  • "Home Sweet Home"

  • A wedding or settlement date

  • A short message for the recipient

What happens if my print arrives damaged? If your print is damaged during transit, please get in touch right away. Take a couple of photos of the damage on the packaging and print which I will send to the printer. They will send you a new print to replace the damaged one.

How is the artwork made? Each portrait is built from your own photograph through a studio process combining digital rendering with hand finishing. Here's the full explanation of how I work.
